I love that if I need to talk about how Griffith’s narrative can be read as gay repression all I need to say is:

his central driving conflict is between a dream represented by a het marriage and his overwhelming feelings for another man

like yeah you can flesh that out with a million additional details, you can really dig into it and examine it and obviously critique it as well, but like, that’s the core of his story – hell that’s the core of berserk – and it’s fundamentally gay.
