Not the same anon and I’m definitely not here to start drama: How do you feel about drawn underage NSFW being against tumblrs guidelines? Lots of other things that are still here are against the guidelines too, haha. But in a hypothetical scenario, do you think they should have handled it differently? I feel weird about this whole thing, it feels blown out of proportion, though I dont think it’s a bad thing if they enforced their own guidelines. But what do you think? :3

Yeah, while I don’t care for underage content, or care if other people do, there’s not much that can be done when it’s explicitly against tumblr’s tos. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, but it is what it is. And you’re right, there’s plenty of other stuff still here that shouldn’t be.

And what qualifies as ‘underage’ varies a lot. Some think if a character has never reached the legal age canonically it’s unacceptable, or that aged-up is still underage, or drawing a character physically small/cute/etc is still wrong, or if a character has a childish personality it’s never okay. It’s a real flamey hot button issue on tumblr. Actually there’s a lot of dynamics tumblr doesn’t like so it’s all the more confusing what can and can’t be uploaded here.

I think the biggest issue I might have with it it is the ‘purge’ happened because of real actual cp featuring real actual children, not because of fandom shipping. Somebody drawing southpark ships or attack on titan ships or kuroshitsuji ships didn’t cause this. Real actual pedophiles did. And just lumping the two together belittles the more important problem.

Should they have handled it differently? It’s hard to say. I haven’t been apart of tumblr for too long, though I’m aware they’ve done a similar purge before. And since they allow minors to register on this site, it makes things a lot more difficult. I’m apart of an R-18 only smut site and they did a similar purge (no fiction depicting minors) years ago so this isn’t new to me. In fact they handled it so much better than what’s happened here. Tumblr pulled the rug out from under artists because they avoided fixing the issue for so long and it got out of hand. That’s real shitty on their part.
