i know none of you guys come to tumblr for politics, especially from a country that’s not yours, but the thing that needs to be understood is that Brazil is one of the most mixed in race, religion and ethnicity in the world. our democracy is merely thirty years old, we were in a dictatorship for TWENTY years before that. and the man that was voted our president now claims that he’s in favor of a dictatorship, he’s for torture, he thinks lgbt kids should be beaten up to turn straight and that he’d rather have a dead son than a gay one. he said in full words that he’s gonna govern for the majorities and the minorities can either leave or disappear, and then he said that he’s gonna dissipate anyone against him. all of that publicly, there’re videos of everything. he’s been called by many developed countries as the new hitler. we’re the fifth largest country in the world, and minority by minority, he’s gonna destroy us. i’ve never been so scared.
Monday, only two days after 11 Jewish people were executed by a white nationalist while worshipping in their synagogue, Messianic Jewish rabbi Loren Jacobs prayed for victory for the Republican Party, then he prayed for Republican candidates, individually by name, and specifically by the race they are running in. Mike Pence picked Loren Jacobs to eulogize the innocent people murdered in their synagogue. Republicans routinely incite violence against Jewish people, and then they add insult to injury with this Republican campaign ad masquerading as a prayer service.
Remember the Muslim group who started raising funds to help pay for funerals and medical expenses for the victims in Pittsburgh?? Well. They’re not done yet. Look at this
They have increased their goal several times and exceeded it within hours. HOURS!!

They’re asking you to please donate to their other fund, to help the victims of the shooting in Kentucky. These people are beyond amazing. They give me hope for the future and restore my faith in humanity.
They haven’t reached their goal with this one yet. If you’re feeling compelled to donate, please donate to the Kentucky fund. Because of everything else going on, it hasn’t gotten nearly as much attention. But these two peoples lives were just as important. They were just as loved and they will be just as missed.

Let Jewish people have “goyim.” Let gays and lesbians have the “heteros/straights.” Let black people complain about “crackers.” Let Latinos have the “gringos.” Let PoC have white people jokes. Let women complain about men.
Let marginalized people express distance from their oppressors. Let the marginalized turn their oppressors into the Other. Let marginalized people exist in a way that inconveniences and irritates their oppressors, because the oppressors have been doing worse for years.
