hey! for what it’s worth, i’ll continue to be active on this account until they literally pry it out of my cold, dead hands. this website has, if nothing else, a very functional tagging/archiving system for individual blogs, and i’ve got eight years of history stored that i will continue to build upon for as long as i can.
(i honestly encourage y’all to stick around, if you’re still getting more out of the site than you’re giving up, because mass abandoning the platform is only going to punish artists and content creators even more.)
i’m pretty exasperated about the TOS update. this is absolutely on the heads of tumblr staff, yahoo, and apple/google for removing the app from their stores with such vague terms. anyone who’s been on the internet longer than a few years probably knows that “adult content” bans have historically done close to nothing to actually “protect children” or “create a welcoming environment” (see: ff.net, livejournal), and instead have disproportionately punished women, queer folk and minorities who have a noted shortage of other places to explore non-mainstream sexuality and eroticism outside of fandom spaces. yes, there are plenty of other places to be horny on the internet, but the majority are run by straight cis men, which can make them hostile or even actively unsafe to be on if you are not one of those.
i’m donating to ao3 and the organization for transformative works today, and i honestly encourage you to do the same if you’re able and willing.
